Following the successful completion of previous works at a UK manufacturing facility, Safesite was commissioned to deliver an additional safe access solution on the factory’s main roof area. The earlier project had established a strong working relationship with the client, and Safesite’s proven expertise in work-at-height safety made us the natural choice for this follow-on installation.
The factory roof is regularly accessed by maintenance teams responsible for inspections, servicing, and general upkeep of rooftop plant and services. To ensure these activities could be carried out safely and efficiently, the client identified the need for step-over units that would allow workers to navigate roof-level obstacles while maintaining safe working practices.
The project required the supply and installation of two Kee Step Over units, designed to provide secure access over roof services and obstructions.

The client required a practical and durable solution that would allow maintenance teams to safely move across the roof without encountering hazards created by pipes, conduits, or other rooftop services.
To assist with the design process, the customer provided Safesite with the required measurements along with a sketch illustrating the preferred step-over layout. The key objectives for the project included:
Safesite reviewed the supplied information and confirmed that a Kee Step Over system would provide the most suitable solution for the site’s requirements.
Kee Step Over units are specifically designed to allow safe movement across roofs where obstacles such as pipework, ducting, or other services create potential trip hazards.
Using the dimensions and design sketch provided by the client, Safesite confirmed the appropriate configuration and prepared the step-over units for installation. The system was chosen for several key reasons:
By selecting a Kee Step Over system, the client gained a practical solution that integrates seamlessly with existing roof access arrangements while improving overall safety.
Safesite carried out the supply and installation of the two step-over units on the main factory roof area. The works were carefully planned to ensure installation could be completed efficiently while maintaining safe working conditions at all times.
The installation was delivered with minimal disruption to the client’s day-to-day operations, allowing the factory to continue functioning as normal throughout the process. Safesite’s experienced installation team ensured all components were fitted in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and site safety procedures.

The completed installation now provides the factory with safe and practical access across its roof areas, allowing maintenance personnel to move safely over rooftop services and obstacles.
Key benefits include:
The installation ensures maintenance tasks can now be carried out more safely and efficiently, supporting the client’s commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
