Eyebolts
Application
Cleaning windows may expose the window cleaner to potential fall risks. Eyebolts can be specified in these instances in order to provide a Class A1 anchorage point to which a shock absorbing lanyard can be attached. The lanyard is then connected to the operative's full body shock absorbing harness.
General guidance concerning reach limits and cleaning is provided within BS 8213: Part 1: 2004 Windows doors and rooflights.
Installation
Safesite's Eyebolts are installed and comply with the recommendations of BS EN 795:1997 and BS7883:2005. Prior to installation, a qualified engineer must confirm that the structure is of an adequate construction to be able to sustain the likely imposed loads.
Product
Safesite's eyebolts are statically tested to 12kN and are available in a standard galvanised finish to BS EN ISO 1461:1999, Polyester White Gloss to BS 6496 amended 1992 and BS 6497 amended 1992 or stainless steel 316 grade.
Re-Certification
BS EN 365:1993 Personal Protective Equipment against falls from height - General requirements for instructions for use and for marking.
Re-certification must be carried out by a competent person and involves removal of the eyebolt for visual inspection purposes in order to check for deterioration. The eyebolt is then reinserted with a new identification tag detailing the installation and re-testing dates. Once reinserted the eyebolt is tested in tension to 6kN for 15 seconds. Through fix eyebolts require the same examination, the eyebolt is then reinserted and the back nut torgued to 25Nm.
Once re-certification is completed, Safesite will issue the necessary certification.
