Property Firm Fined After Workers Put at Risk

A Property Management company has been prosecuted after two workers we seen on the 6th floor of a city apartment block without proper safety equipment to prevent them falling.

The men had been hired by the Property Management company to fit glass balconies to the properties and had originally worked on scaffolding.  However this was removed by the Property Management company before the work was completed so the men used harnesses to attach themselves to a guardrail.

When an HSE inspector visited the site he ordered the work to stop immediately as there was no way of knowing whether the guardrail and harnesses would have held the men on the balcony in the event of a fall.
