Safesite Rescue Kit Installations

Rescue Training at Aston University

Safesite has helped the Estates and Facilities Department at Aston University to ensure that those working at height can be rescued competently and efficiently in the event of a fall through the provision of rescue equipment and training for all those responsible for and carrying out work at height.

Rescue training was held on site at the University and included an overview of work at height statistics and legislation, rescue risk assessments and policies as well as practical use of the rescue kit.

During the practical sessions, delegates learnt how to inspect, wear and adjust a harness and then built up their knowledge of how to use the rescue kit by lifting weights, themselves and finally colleagues using the equipment. Once delegates were sufficiently confident in using the rescue kit the training moved to the University's roof where a dynamic risk assessment was completed before each delegate used their training to rescue a dummy.

In addition to the training, Safesite also provided the University with a generic risk assessment and policy to help it plan for rescue for all work at height activities around the Campus.
